Founded in 1971 Borgarplast has always operated in the manufacturing industry, mainly involving products made from synthetics, polyethylene and polystyrene. Borgarplast defines itself as a manufacturer of containers and packages for the food industry, especially for the transportation and storage of fresh food.
Borgarplast’s production lines consist of products made from Polystyrene (EPS) and Polyethylene (PE) for use in the food and construction industries.
Borgarplast began exporting its products in 1986 and the main export items are insulated pallet containers of various types. Borgarplast's factories are very well equipped with a high production capacity.
Borgarplast's quality system was certificated to the IST EN ISO 9001 standard in 1993, the company being the first Icelandic industrial manufacturing company to achieve this recognition. Borgarplast also became the first Icelandic company to receive certification to the international environmental standard IST EN ISO 14001 in 1999, and was one of the first 6000 companies in the world to do so. Over the years the company has earned awards for many aspects of its operations including technological innovation, environmental awareness and employee facilities and safety.
Borgarplast products have been sold to fifty countries and in most continents of the world.
Our products are used on board boats for fresh fish on ice, on land for pickling, salt fish processing, fish transportation, salmon harvesting, shrimp curing, storage of large fish e.g. tuna and swordfish, salting and marinating, marinating of shrimp and more.
The products are also used for various other purposes mainly within the food and transport industry.
Borgarplast products have been sold to forty countries in all the continents of the world.
Buyers operate in fields including meat products, beef, pork and chicken production and value-added meat processing, storage and transportation of ice and liquid ice, cheese making, winemaking and pickles, pet food production and collection of fish and meat waste, tanning of skins and hides, transportation of fresh meat, fish and fruit by truck, marine container, train and air, storage of various foods, and transportation of pharmaceuticals.
